Freezer Equipment FAQs & Best Practices

Following these freezer equipment tips can help prevent the most common problems with freezer performance. If you DO experience problems, contact us for help. If you own your freezer independently, you can also contact TransCold Services for assistance.

Where is the best freezer placement

Place freezer on a FLAT surface. Leave at least 6 inches around the freezer for proper ventilation. DO NOT block the top of the freezer. DO NOT place in direct sunlight. AFTER you meet all of these qualifications, you can identify a location that is easy for customers to find and grabs attention.

Why won't the freezer turn on

Has the cord come unplugged? Is there power in the outlet? Try testing it with a light or other appliance.

Does the freezer have its own circuit

We recommend that it does. If you are using an extension cord, please ensure that it is no longer than two feet in length. Check your circuit breaker/fuse box if you suspect a blown fuse or tripped breaker.

Why is the freezer noisy

Make sure that:

the fan is not blocked
all screws and bolts are tight
the freezer is properly leveled

Should the freezer be running continuously

Is the freezer located in an excessively warm area? If so relocate. DO NOT expose freezer to direct sunlight.

Why is the ice cream soft

There are a few factors that may contribute:

Direct exposure to the sun
Improper adjustment of the thermostat located behind grill. (typically set to 6)
The fan grill is blocked
An excessive amount of product is preventing the cover from closing properly. (Do not place product above red line)
Excessive frost on the inside of freezer

Is dust build up bad

Dust should be removed as part of regular preventative maintenance. Call your representative for service if you notice dust build up.
